Provincial Governors Ordered by King to Continue Their Work for Another Term

PHNOM PENH: The King of Cambodia, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, has ordered three provincial governors to continue their work for another term.

In a Royal Decree signed on 11 April 2023, King Norodom Sihamoni ordered the Governor of Banteay Meanchey, Oum Rath, the Governor of Preah Sihanouk, Kouch Chamroeun, and the Governor of Kampong Cham, Un Chanda, to continue doing their work in their respective provinces for another term.

The Law on the Administration of the Capital, Provinces, Municipalities and Districts stipulates that the term of office for a Governor or Deputy Governor shall not exceed four years. However, the Governors and Deputy Governors of the capital and provinces can be appointed for another four year-term within the same jurisdiction.
